service.
These are the terms for using blk/txt, whether from the web app, the API, or the mobile client. Using the service in any of those ways means you accept them.
The service
blk/txt takes the text you write or import, parses it into dated blocks, and derives entities, timelines, charts, and full-text search from it, so you can search and inspect what you already wrote. You can export what the service holds for your account, in JSON, CSV, or Markdown, whenever you want it back.
The plan and the trial
There is one paid plan, billed monthly or yearly, with the same features on both periods. Before paying, you can try the product with no account, no card, and no email address: the trial runs for 48 hours measured from your last visit to it, and once that window passes with no activity, its contents are permanently cleared and cannot be recovered. Claiming a trial and keeping the account afterward is a purchase, not a free upgrade.
Billing, renewal, and cancellation
A paid subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, monthly or yearly depending on which you chose, until you cancel it. You can cancel or update your payment method at any time through the account portal our payment provider hosts, linked from your billing settings; cancelling stops the next renewal but does not remove access you have already paid for. We never see your card number or billing address: the payment provider's own page collects them, and what we keep is limited to your subscription status and the identifiers needed to look up your record with them.

Acceptable use
Use blk/txt for your own notes, logs, and text. Do not use it to store or process content that is unlawful or that infringes someone else's rights, and do not put through it anything you have no right to hold. Do not attempt to reach another account's data, probe the service for weaknesses beyond what responsible disclosure allows, or try to work around the trial's expiry to keep access you have not paid for. An account that breaks these terms can be suspended or closed.
Your content
You own what you write or import. Using blk/txt only grants us the licence we need to store, process, index, back up, and show your content back to you in order to run the service, nothing more: we do not use your content to train any model, and no language model reads it as part of running the product. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the backup window described in the privacy policy, during which a deleted account can still exist in a recent backup snapshot before it is rotated out.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise it will be available without interruption, and we are not liable for downtime, maintenance, or a period of lost access. Keeping a current export is the way to stay independent of any one outage, and export always works regardless of your plan's status.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows it, blk/txt is provided as it is, without a promise that it will be error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and our liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from Settings or the mobile app. We can suspend or end an account for breaking these terms, for non-payment, or if the service is being discontinued altogether, and we will give notice where we reasonably can before doing so.
Governing law

Changes
We update the date at the top of this page whenever these terms change, and describe a material change in the section above rather than leaving the date to speak for itself. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
